The VALIDATE Network is pleased to announce the opening of applications for its 2025 Mentoring Scheme. Aimed at fostering professional development and career progression among VALIDATE members, the scheme is now open for applications until 4 pm (UK time) on 2 December 2024.This annual initiative pairs approximately ten early-stage researchers and PIs with experienced Senior Scientist mentors from the VALIDATE network. Scientists from all regions are encouraged to apply, with a particular focus on applicants from Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).
To be eligible, applicants must be VALIDATE Associates or Investigators. VALIDATE membership is free, and those interested can join via the VALIDATE website.
Mentoring relationships last 12 months, with mentees required to submit a short report at the end of the year for network records and publicity. Applications, submitted as a single PDF document, are reviewed by the VALIDATE Management Team, with results announced about a month after the deadline.
The mentoring scheme has been praised by previous mentees for its positive impact on career growth and perspective. Comments from past participants highlight the benefits of guidance, networking, and support in building confidence and planning career goals. One mentee from Nigeria noted the boost it provided in securing grant support, while another in South Africa described the scheme as instrumental in gaining new insights and skills.
