VALIDATE Lab Placements awarded

Congratulations to our four VALIDATE Lab Placement awardees. VALIDATE Lab Placement Grants are competitively awarded to Associate Network members from LMICs, providing the opportunity to undertake a laboratory exchange visit at selected host institutions. 

The awardees and projects are:

• Dr Jonathan Kofi Adjei – Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. “Assessing the protective capacity of PPE_MPTR peptides of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in an in vitro model”
  Host laboratory: Host-Pathogen Mycobactomics, Stellenbosch University, South Africa.

• Asst Prof Endalew Yizengaw – Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. “3D cell culture systems to model persistent subclinical Leishmania infection”
  Host laboratory: CIDEIM, Colombia.

• Dr Vanessa Mwebaza Muwanga – University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa. “mRNA platform and product development for neglected infectious diseases”
  Host laboratory: Afrigen Biologics and Vaccines, South Africa.

• Dr Happy Tshivhula – Stellenbosch University, South Africa. “Processing TB clinical trial samples”
  Host laboratory: McShane Lab, University of Oxford, UK.
