Applications are now open for the 2026 VALIDATE Mentoring Scheme, which supports the professional development and career progression of VALIDATE members by connecting early-career researchers and emerging principal investigators with experienced senior scientists from across the Network.
The 12-month scheme gives mentees an opportunity to receive personalised advice and support from an established researcher. Previous participants have used their mentoring relationships to develop research ideas, strengthen funding applications, expand their professional networks, establish new collaborations and plan the next stages of their careers.
One former mentee described the scheme as “hugely beneficial”, adding: “I only wish I had sought a mentor sooner.” Another said that receiving guidance from a researcher in a different country and culture had “broadened my horizons”.
We aim to match approximately ten mentees during this round. Applications are welcome from VALIDATE Associates and Investigators in all regions, with applications from scientists based in low- and middle-income countries particularly encouraged.
Applicants should submit a completed application form and the associated documents through the VALIDATE Mentoring Scheme submission portal by 16:00 UK time on Friday 2 October 2026.
Further information, application guidance and the application form are available on the VALIDATE Mentoring webpage. If you have any questions, please contact validate@ndm.ox.ac.uk.
