Join VALIDATE! We're searching for a new Research Data Analyst

VALIDATE is looking for a new Research Data Analyst, as sadly Deniz will be leaving us and moving to Boston in May. This is an exciting and crucial post within VALIDATE, where you can have an impact on vaccine Research & Development for neglected diseases.

VALIDATE Research Data Analyst

Employer: the VALIDATE Network, based at the Jenner Institute, University of Oxford

Grade 7: £32,236-£39,609 p.a.

Our network, VALIDATE (“VAccine deveLopment for complex Intracellular neglecteD pAThogEns”), aims to bring together human and veterinary academics, industry partners, and governmental and non-governmental agencies around the world to accelerate progress towards developing vaccines. We currently have over 240 members from 40 countries around the world.

As the VALIDATE Research Data Analyst, you will encourage our members to share published and unpublished data via our Data Portal, which you will manage, and you will be responsible for maximising outcomes from this immunology and vaccine-related data from our collaborating members. You will examine cross-pathogen, cross-species, and cross-country immunological data to find synergies and differences, generating new findings and peer-reviewed journal publications, and building models to predict vaccine efficacy. You will be responsible for examining cross-pathogen immune responses, for example using available data sets from studies of immune correlates of risk of TB disease, to build models to predict immune correlates of risk of leishmania, leprosy and melioidosis disease. You will participate in identifying knowledge gaps and developing proposals to fund research projects to address these areas.

You will have a PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, mathematics, or statistics, with a scientific background in biology. You will have postdoctoral experience working as a bioinformatician, mathematical modeller or statistician. You must be proactive, have excellent communication skills, be a team-player, and be comfortable working closely with scientists and clinicians in diverse geographical locations who possess a wide range of skillsets and knowledge. It is expected that the work will involve a range of complex and original scientific work and requires a high degree of personal motivation.
