VALIDATE's First Public Talk a Success
In February, VALIDATE Co-Director Dr María Adelaida Gómez delivered a free public talk at the Royal Institution of Great Britain exploring the human and scientific story of cutaneous leishmaniasis.
Drawing on her research and work with affected communities in Colombia, Adelaida explained how the disease is transmitted, why current treatments remain limited, and how vaccine research could transform the lives of people living with its physical and psychological effects. The talk also highlighted the urgent need for greater investment in neglected infectious diseases and the communities most affected by them.
The event was chaired by Adelaida's fellow co-director Helen McShane, and took some insightful questions from the Audience.
