VALIDATE Launches it's Africa Regional Sub-committe

VALIDATE launched its new Africa Regional Sub-Committee at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West, South Africa, following the VALIDATE Annual Meeting.

The new Committee brings together VALIDATE members committed to strengthening vaccine research, collaboration and career development across Africa. It is chaired by Professor Lydia Mosi of Ghana, with Professor Samantha Sampson of South Africa serving as Co-Chair.

During today’s inaugural meeting, members discussed key challenges affecting research and career advancement across the continent and explored practical ways in which VALIDATE could better support African researchers and strengthen collaboration within and beyond the Network.

The Committee includes 12 members based in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa and Tunisia. It aims to:

• Identify and highlight the priorities of vaccine researchers across Africa
• Strengthen regional and international research collaboration
• Support scientific and technical capacity building
• Promote career development opportunities, particularly for early-career researchers
• Improve knowledge exchange and coordination between members
• Ensure that African perspectives and priorities are represented within the wider VALIDATE Network

The Africa Regional Sub-Committee has been launched alongside VALIDATE’s new Latin America and Caribbean Regional Sub-Committee. Together, the committees will help VALIDATE better understand and respond to the priorities of members across both regions.
