VALIDATE pump-priming and training grant calls open

VALIDATE pump-priming and training grant calls open!

We are pleased to announce two VALIDATE grant calls have now opened:

1. Pump-priming grants

Grants are available for pump-priming projects of up to £50,000 (at 100% FEC). Projects must be scientifically excellent, and fall within the VALIDATE remit and should lead to relevant and useful data for the field, or produce pilot data that will lead to a larger grant application to the MRC/EU etc. We particularly encourage projects including any of the following: cross-pathogen research, cross-discipline research, projects promoting the One Health agenda, in vivo research, collaborative projects involving low/middle-income country (LMIC) researchers, new collaborations between VALIDATE members, projects led by and/or including Early Career Researchers, projects with industry involvement.

Awards are open to all VALIDATE Investigators and Associates, but projects must have at least one Investigator involved. Projects must include VALIDATE members (Investigator or Associate) from at least two different Institutes.

Pump-priming grants are awarded via competitive application to the Network Management Board. You'll find further details, along with the application form and application guidance document, on our pump-priming grant page

2. Training grants

Training grants of up to £3000 are available to help VALIDATE Associates (post-doctoral researchers) take advantage of training opportunities that will contribute to their professional development. This can include (but is not limited to): attendance at courses or workshops, laboratory exchange, work shadowing, and attendance at an international conference to present a talk. Training opportunities can be within, or external to, the VALIDATE Network, including with industry partners.

Training grants are awarded via competitive application to the Network Management Board. You can find further details and the application form and guidance documents on our training grant webpage.

Both calls close at 4pm on the 14 June 2018 - and don't forget we also have a Fellowship call currently open for Associates as well, which closes on 30 April (more details here).

We look forward to receiving some exciting and interesting applications!
