#BCG100Facts
A would have seen on VALIDATE's Twitter, we have been sharing a series of 100 infographics about TB and BCG as part of our activities marking the centenary of the vaccine. We recently reached 50 and will be rapidly firing off the remaining 50 we head toward the anniversary of the first use of BCG for humans on 18 July! You can get involved by retweeting the tweets from the #BCG100Facts thread and downloading and sharing the images from our shared folder. Funding:

  • MRC Clinical Academic Research Partnership - MRC are looking for research-qualified (PhD or MD) healthcare professionals to take part in collaborative high-quality research partnerships – deadline 18 November 2021

  • BBSRC Work with US Researchers - The lead agency scheme allows US and UK researchers to submit a single collaborative proposal that will undergo a single review process by the lead agency - deadline - 22 September 2021
  • ERC Advanced Grants – These grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they have already established research leaders with a recognised track record of research achievements - Deadline 31 August 2021

Highlights on Twitter this week:

Nature Careers published an article on career insecurity for ECRs, UCL’s TB unit celebrated 100 years of BCG, and VALIDATE Fellow Rachel Tanner worked with Frontiers for Young minds on a resource for teaching young people about BCG. We continued our #BCG100Facts with infographics about TB around the world. Member Dr Alfredo Torres highlighted how Burkholderia remains understudied, The Scientist had an excellent infographic on TB Vaccines pipelines and an article on TB being “the forgotten pandemic”.
