The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) is a global leader in bovine TB research and surveillance, contributing to Defra's TB eradication plan by conducting statutory bovine TB testing, developing a vaccine, and undertaking complementary research studies. They are currently seeking a senior scientist to contribute to ongoing projects, including project management, scientific research, and team development, with a salary of £42,577, along with benefits such as a Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme and flexible working options.
Work includes a statutory bovine TB testing programme, a bovine TB vaccine development programme (with field trials currently taking place) and complementary research studies, alongside development of novel diagnostics, use of genomics technologies and surveillance tools.
