IAVI, a non-profit scientific research organization, is offering an internship opportunity for motivated students interested in TB vaccine research and advocacy. The internship will be conducted remotely in India, Kenya, or South Africa. Interns will have the chance to work closely with experts from both IAVI and the Stop TB Partnership Working Group on New TB Vaccines (WGNV), hosted by IAVI. WGNV serves as a platform for stakeholders to engage in scientific exchange, consensus-building, and advocacy for increased support in TB vaccine research and development (R&D).
The internship aims to enhance interns' knowledge of TB vaccine R&D, develop their skills in communication and advocacy, expose them to ongoing research, and provide valuable contributions to the TB vaccine R&D community. Responsibilities include compiling relevant journal articles, supporting the WGNV communication strategy (especially on social media), assisting with TB vaccine candidate information compilation, and contributing to the development of educational materials.
This internship also provides additional opportunities such as interacting with stakeholders in TB vaccine R&D, accessing IAVI materials and publications, attending select events, and potentially obtaining academic credit. Candidates pursuing a Master's or PhD program in a science or public health-related field are required. Strong communication skills, social media experience, and an interest in scientific communications and advocacy are preferred qualifications. The internship is part-time, with an average commitment of 20-25 hours per month, and compensation will be provided based on local market rates. IAVI is committed to diversity and equal opportunity, fostering a global organization that upholds integrity, collaboration, and innovation.
