Two year position
Project title: DiSarM: Development of a subunit vaccine against melioidosis
Due to recent funding from the Wellcome Trust Innovator Award, this two year post is available for a highly productive ambitious postdoctoral researcher to join the Vaccine and Infection group led by Dr Siobhán McClean, University College Dublin. We have identified a vaccine antigen that protected two different preclinical models from lethal melioidosis infection. The Welcome Trust funded DiSarM project will allow us to perform essential developmental steps to further investigate the vaccine's safety and effectiveness, so that we can move towards first in man studies.
The project will focus on :
- T- cell epitope identification and characterisation of T-cell responses
- Cloning and expression of antigens
- Antigen stability studies and antigen characterisation
- Immune monitoring of the vaccine responses
The successful candidate must have:
- PhD in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology or related discipline.
- Recent hands on experience in protein expression, purification and analysis.
- A demonstrated commitment to research and publications.
- Excellent Communication Skills (Oral, Written , Presentation etc)
It is also desirable that the candidate have:
- Experience in immunology, vaccination, preclinical methods and / or cloning.
- Experience in setting own research agenda
- Knowledge of IP processes and knows how to protect findings
Fixed Salary: €36,489 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience
