We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Assistant Professor, or postdoctoral Research Fellow (depending on experience), with interests in vector borne disease transmission to join the work of the SPEAK India consortium at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The post-holder will be responsible for the design, preparation, implementation and analysis of studies and will assist with the day to day running of the xenomonitoring project, including helping to oversee the work of research assistants and field assistants. This position will be based at the School in London, but will require travel to India during the VL transmission season (August to November 2019).
There will be excellent career development opportunities and the post holder will be expected to contribute to grant writing, supervision of field staff, presentations at conferences and meetings, preparation of publications, teaching and public engagement. The post holder will work closely with other staff in the SPEAK India consortium and the Department of Disease Control.
The successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant field (Research Fellow) or a doctoral degree in a relevant field (Assistant Professor); relevant field experience working with vector-borne diseases; contributions to written output; willingness to travel to India to perform field work. This full-time post is funded for 12 months, although there is scope for the project to run beyond that point provided funding can be obtained. Salary is on the Academic Pathway scale in the range £39,304-£44,634 for Research Fellows and £45,878 - £52,520 for Assistant Professors, per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff.
