Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of four strategic research priorities for the MRC, a multidisciplinary research priority for UKRI and an area in which the UK shows global leadership. The MRC lead a Cross-Council research initiative in AMR on behalf of all seven research councils and now with the involvement of Innovate UK. They have convened a group of 20 UK funders to coordinate efforts to address AMR (AMR Funders Forum) and they represent UK government research funders on the European Joint Programming Initiative in AMR (JPIAMR). You will manage the administration of AMR activities and provide support for the Programme Manager and Head of Infection and Immunity.
Main roles
- to manage the application and award process for all applications to these schemes, leading on the peer review process for applications, ensuring relevant input from the MRC Infection and Immunity Board (IIB), the MRC international team and external partners
- to manage the oversight, monitoring and evaluation of the AMR portfolio
- to help establish and to manage research information resources for the community and assist in scoping and delivering communication activities that promote AMR activities, including maintenance of the relevant sections of the MRC web site
- to commission and manage the analysis of research portfolios, to support review and development of MRC, UK and international strategy
- to manage stakeholder relationships in relation to relevant research initiatives
Applicants must be educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in a biological science.
