The Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health are seeking a highly-motivated Research Data Programmer to join the team developing IDDO infrastructure and governance to make IDDO-held data FAIR, and also to accelerate access to COVID-19 data to support pandemic response, developing strong data integration across IDDO.
You will be responsible for helping to develop, expand, and apply equitable and sustainable FAIR (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, Reuse) assets to the IDDO Data Platform. This involves work along all stages of the FAIR principles, including the enrichment of metadata, minting of DOIs, documentation of tools used to standardize IDDO data, supporting the development of an efficient data pipeline, developing code to run standardisation programs and quality checks on curated data, and collaboration with IDDO statisticians to create analysis datasets and generate reports. The post will include project management responsibilities including the scoping and development of processes and the facilitation of communications across the multidisciplinary IDDO team to coordinate the roll-out of these processes. Writing standard operating procedures for these processes as well as contributing to writing manuscripts that describe IDDO work for the academic literature will be required. Curating data into a standard SDTM data structure and defining metadata structures to link data across the repository will also be key tasks.
It is essential that you hold a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline (Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Global Health, Epidemiology etc.), and have strong statistical knowledge and experience in processing datasets. You will have strong background in the use of programming for statistical and research analysis using Java, Python, and/or R, and have hands on experience in data manipulation, linkage and transformation. Is it essential that you are able to work independently and manage own workload and projects, and have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with people from different background and all levels of seniority.
