Biography:

Dr. Chinedu Iwu’s research focuses on infectious diseases, vaccine implementation, and public health interventions in resource-limited settings. His work spans TB/HIV care, maternal and neonatal immunization, HPV vaccine uptake, respiratory infections, with an emphasis on understanding sociocultural, behavioural, and systemic determinants of health outcomes. Using mixed-methods approaches, he integrates epidemiological surveillance, community engagement, and implementation science to design interventions that improve uptake, retention, and health equity in vulnerable populations. His main research interests include vaccine hesitancy, community-based strategies for infectious disease prevention and health systems strengthening. Dr. Iwu is particularly invested in bridging the gap between evidence generation and policy impact, leveraging culturally tailored approaches, stakeholder collaboration, and innovative methodologies to enhance health outcomes in sub-Saharan Africa.
