As the first summer school in epidemiology established in Europe, the European Educational Programme in Epidemiology (EEPE) has been attended since 1988 by over sixteen hundred students. The EEPE is sponsored by the International Epidemiological Association, the WHO Centre for Environment and Health and the Italian Association of Epidemiology. Epidemiologists, public health professionals, statisticians as well as clinicians with an interest in epidemiology have appreciated the opportunity of combining an intensive learning of epidemiological subjects with the unique attraction for cultural and artistic enjoyment offered by Florence and Tuscany.
Dr Manolis Kogevinas is the former director of the European Educational Epidemiology Program (EEPE) and is a member of the course steering committee. The coordination of the course is based at ISGlobal, with María del Mar Ferrer as administrative coordinator.
