Biography:
I have worked predominantly on the “Identification and Characterization of promoters for Toxin-Antitoxin loci of Mycobacterium tuberculosis” and has done some significant work in the domain of expression of mycobacterial proteins & cloning and expression of mycobacterial sigma factors. I have developed an EGFP reporter vector system and it was used to identify and characterize promoters of Toxin-Antitoxin loci encoded by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. I have also developed a promoter reporter vector system based on selection and optimized it for identification of genome wide promoters of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Along with this, I also worked to construct two whole genome libraries of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and selected the promoters followed by mapping of promoters for genome-wide toxin antitoxin loci using next generation sequencing technology promoters as a part of her PhD work. This work adds new dimension to understand the regulatory mechanisms that lead to differential activation of these Toxin Antitoxin loci in M. tuberculosis and adds a lot of valuable information to the existing literature. I have handled multiple projects at a time and has good teamwork capability.
Currently, I am focusing on the vaccine development, drug target and drug repurposing for human infectious diseases. Additionally, my research work also deals with identification and characterization of Toxin-Antitoxin loci of human pathogen Helicobacter pylori.
