Biography:
Dr. Abyot Meaza Dasho has been working at Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) at department of National TB Reference Laboratory as a Researcher since October 2010. He has a laboratory background (MSc in Clinical Laboratory Sciences), and he is a trained and experienced laboratory professional, particularly in TB diagnostics. In his stay within EPHI, he has been actively involved in the national TB surveillance, evaluation of new TB diagnostics, operational research, and networking tasks such as providing technical assistance to regional TB culture and DST laboratories in providing training, mentoring, and supervision. He has also served as Senior Laboratory Consultant at Management Sciences for Health. Moreover, he has been deployed to South Sudan for two years to support the national laboratory system through IGAD.
Dr. Abyot authored and co-authored 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He completed his PhD in Tropical and Infectious Diseases from Addis Ababa University with a PhD dissertation work entitled ‘Molecular Epidemiology and Drug Sensitivity of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in East African Refugees Residing in Ethiopia ".
He is experienced Researcher particularly in tuberculosis (authored publications); and Specialist in TB diagnostics. My research interests are TB in key affected populations, molecular epidemiology of TB, transmission dynamics of TB, evaluation of new TB diagnostics and new anti-TB drugs, clinical trial on TB vaccine and other related researches.
