Biography:
My name is Bernadette Nkhata, and I currently serve as an intern at the International Vaccine Institute, based in South Africa. My academic background revolves around public health and vaccinology, with a particular passion for infectious diseases research, notably tuberculosis (TB) vaccines. At IVI, I am engaged in a project focused on conducting a scoping review to investigate the extent of childhood vaccinations administered to children under five years old in Africa and Southeast Asia. This exploration investigates implications for the mode of administration, in particular the number of injections received per age group and the impact the integration of new vaccines into immunization programs. I am pursuing my PhD with a research focus on exploring TB vaccine hesitancy and vaccine confidence among African communities, highlighting the challenges and opportunities therein.
