Biography:
I am a molecular virologist and early-career researcher with a deep interest in vaccine development, zoonotic diseases, and One Health approaches. My work focuses on the development of genotype-matched DNA vaccines for Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV), a major threat to poultry production and food security in sub-Saharan Africa. During my PhD, I designed and evaluated a DNA vaccine tailored to Tanzanian NDV strains, aiming to provide better protection for smallholder farmers and local poultry systems. This experience strengthened my passion for translational research and innovative, context-specific vaccine solutions.
Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher at the SACIDS Foundation for One Health, based at Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania. I lead a project funded by the RSIF Junior Investigator Research Award (JIRA), where I continue my work on NDV vaccine evaluation under field conditions. My broader research interests include host-pathogen interactions, DNA vaccine delivery platforms, and immunisation strategies at the human-animal-environment interface. I am an active member of global vaccinology networks such as the International Veterinary Vaccinology Network (IVVN) and the IMPRINT network, where I continue to build collaborations and grow as a scientist dedicated to advancing equitable health solutions.
