Biography:

Emilie Karafillakis is a researcher at the Vaccine Confidence Project, at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. She has a background in public health, infectious disease control, and health systems and policies. She leads European research on understanding reasons behind low vaccine confidence in certain European populations, the growing role and influence of social media, and strategies that may be used to rebuild public trust. She also works on understanding the impact of public concerns and rumours around vaccine trials, and has worked extensively around the Ebola vaccine trials. In addition to being a research fellow at LSHTM, Emilie is also a PhD candidate - her research focuses on adolescent girls’ decision-making processes with regards to HPV vaccination in France.
