Neuroimmunology in TB and co-infection between TB and HIV
Biography:
As a Research Director in Olivier Neyrolles’ team, I am leading an independent research investigation to better understand how Mycobacterium tuberculosis changes the lung environment to render human macrophages more susceptible to HIV-1 infection. As part of the lung environment, I also studied how resident bacteria may protect against tissue damage and immune dysfunction in tuberculosis pulmonary disease. How do tuberculosis or resident bacteria affect the process of neurogenesis in the lung is the main subject being developed at this moment. To address these issues, I am currently co-leading a project to adapt lung organoid technology as a novel strategic approach.
