I started my TB research as a graduate student from the Gupta lab at CSIR-IMTECH, Chandigarh, India, where I deciphered host-pathogen interaction during Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection. My motivation and excitement to learn and contribute to translational research led me to join the Curtiss[1] Clark-Curtiss lab at the University of Florida, where we developed a vaccine against Mtb and Non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM). To further expand my expertise and understanding of host immunity VALIDATE membership application form v7 5 by studying different immune cells and their functions, I joined the Rengarajan lab at Emory University. Currently, I am involved in multiple projects that allow me to better understand innate and adaptive immune responses during TB infection. Using the TB mouse model, advanced flow cytometry technique, and single-cell RNA sequencing platform, I am trying to understand the different heterogeneous immune and non-immune cells' emergence and function that enhance or suppress the immune system. Using the single-cell transcriptomic signatures, I am trying to understand the Mtb infected lung immune landscape to identify novel genes and pathways that will help improve vaccine and treatment strategies. I am also involved in evaluating the efficacy of several candidate vaccines and adjuvants against Mtb. Key publications Weblinks of interest |
