Biography:
My name is Jeremy Aboagye and I am a PhD candidate working in the Adjuvant Research lab in Trinity College Dublin (Ireland) supervised by professor Ed Lavelle. Melioidosis is a serious infectious disease caused by Burkholderia pseudomallei, commonly found in soil and water in tropical regions. With fatality rates ranging from 10% to 50%, depending on the region and access to medical care as well as the rise of AMR, a vaccine is desperately needed. My PhD work involves testing different adjuvants and immunisation schedule combinations to design the optimal vaccination strategy against B.pseudomallei & other AMR priority pathogens as well as deciphering the underlying immune mechanisms of these approaches.
