Biography:

My research interest is in using microorganisms in finding innovative practical answers to real microbiological problems in industry, food, medical and environmental settings where detailed knowledge of bacterial strains, metabolism, and physiology is essential.

My research primarily focuses on the isolation of novel bacteria particularly the Actinobacteria and prospecting for their bioactive compounds and peptides. This involves exploring under-explored environment for their isolation, characterization, sequencing (Sanger and NGS) as well as analysis and determination of biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) for specific bioactive compounds and drug discovery for the combat against pathogens such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, MRSA, E. coli etc.
