Biography: My ongoing research traineeship at the MRCG at LSHTM, has exposed me to clinical trials of host-directed therapies (HDT) given together with standard anti-TB treatment regimens to improve patients’ post-TB treatment outcomes. HDT has the potential to enhance the effectiveness of anti-TB therapies, shortening treatment and minimising AMR. I am therefore acquiring various techniques for diagnosing TB and monitoring treatment, as well as studying both the human host and bacterial microbiological and genomic analysis. My research interests lie in the molecular evolution of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB), host-pathogen interactions, and the discovery of new therapies and vaccines to tackle mycobacterial diseases. I am particularly interested in developing effective interventions that are relevant to high-burden, resource-limited settings to advance TB control and improve public health.
