Biography:

I am Associate Professor of Bacteriology and Virology in Cheikh Anta DIOP University, Dakar, Senegal. I work in the fields of microbiology and immunology in Aristide Le Dantec University Hospital as well as in IRESSEF. My main topic is study of correlates of immune protection against HIV-infection among HIV-exposed seronegative partners in HIV heterosexual discordant couples in Senegal. This work was supported by the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM), Antwerp, Belgium, where I was trained on several immunological techniques such as enhanced ELISpot assay using exogenous cytokines, IL-7/IL-15 in order to detect low level T-cell responses and flow cytometry analyses (phenotyping and intracellular cytokine staining). In addition, I was involved in the management of the immunological aspects of the TB021 MVA85A and Ebola vaccine trials conducted recently in Dakar, Senegal.
