Biography:
Dr. Amal has a strong interest in fish diseases, fish vaccination, and fish ecology. His current research focuses on the epidemiology of fish diseases, as well as the development and commercialization of feed-based vaccines against vibriosis, streptococcosis, and aeromoniasis in tropical cultured fish species.
Dr. Amal and his research team have developed several innovations for the control and prevention of fish diseases in aquaculture. Among these are ViVaC UPM and AquaBooster UPM—newly developed feed-based killed vaccines targeting vibriosis, streptococcosis, and aeromoniasis, respectively, in cultured fish.
His team is also actively working on the development of therapeutics for the control and prevention of parasitic and viral diseases affecting tropical aquaculture species, including both fish and crustaceans.
