Biography:

This is Dr. Moizur Rahman, currently working as Professor in the Dept. of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. I obtained Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and Masters of Science (MS) in Parasitology degree from Bangladesh Agricultural University. awarded (on 24th Feb, 2012) Doctoral degree (PhD in Molecular Cell Biology) from Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine, South Korea. I have published several papers in peer reviewed journal.
I have a good teaching and research career. I was appointed as Lecturer in the Dept. of Veterinary and Animal Sciences on February, 2006. Before that, I was serving as Lecturer in the Dept. of Pathology and Parasitology, Dinajpur Govt. Veterinary Collage, Bangladesh. I conduct all the undergraduate courses (theory and practical) related to parasitology e.g. General Parasitology, Helminthology, Protozoology and Entomology. I also have experience in identification of important parasites and diagnostic procedures of important parasitic diseases. Furthermore, I prepare teaching modules, make questions for class tests and final examinations and evaluate the examination scripts etc.
I have research experiences on molecular techniques regarding genomics and proteomics. This includes:
• ELISA, SDS-PAGE and Western Blot.
• Two-Dimensional Electrophoresis and Western-blotting.
• Preparation of samples and MS analysis for protein sequencing.
• Database searching to identify the sequences obtained from MS analysis.
• Isolation of identified genes from cDNA library or gDNA of respective organism and their phylogenetic analysis.
• Cloning of isolated genes, generation of recombinant proteins and antibody against recombinant proteins.
• Biochemical characterization of both native and recombinant proteins.
I have research interests in molecular biology of parasites, zoonoses, veterinary public health and livestock/poultry vaccines. Currently I am working on characterization of Theileria sp. isolated from cattle population of Bangladesh. We are also working on Molecular characterization of Toxoplasma gondii isolated from sheep/goat of Bangladesh. Both of this research is conducted in collaboration with Dr. Yasuhiro Takashima, Gifu University, Japan.
