Biography:

Dr. Muthita Vanaporn is a distinguished immunologist and microbiologist renowned for her extensive research on melioidosis. Dr. Vanaporn has dedicated her career to understanding and combating infectious diseases, with a special focus on Burkholderia pseudomallei, the causative agent of melioidosis.

After obtaining her Ph.D. in Immunology from Mahidol University in 2008, Dr. Vanaporn pursued a Research Fellowship at the School of Biosciences, University of Exeter, UK, further honing her expertise in bacterial pathogenesis. She has since held academic positions at the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, progressing from Lecturer to Assistant Professor.

Dr. Vanaporn’s research has significantly advanced the understanding of melioidosis, particularly through her work on bacterial enzyme inhibitors and the stress response mechanisms of Burkholderia pseudomallei. Her studies have led to the identification of novel therapeutic targets and contributed to the development of effective treatments for this neglected tropical disease. The main goal of her research is to identify efficient target for melioidosis vaccine and treatment.
