Biography:

Dr. Soumi Chowdhury’s research centres on unravelling the complex interactions between pathogens, the host gut microbiome, and immune responses in tropical infectious diseases. Her broader research interests lie in host–pathogen interactions, microbiome-based diagnostics/prognostics, and applying advanced metagenomics, proteogenomics, and immunological assays to decipher disease mechanisms. She is keenly interested in using cutting-edge bioinformatics and systems biology approaches to discover novel therapeutic and diagnostic strategies in infectious diseases caused not only by B. pseudomallei, but also Leishmania sp., and other clinically significant pathogens. She aspires to continue pursuing interdisciplinary research that bridges clinical microbiology, computational biology, and translational medicine, particularly within the context of neglected tropical diseases.
