Biography:
I recently completed my MSc in Molecular Biology, where my project focussed on producing an in vitro persister model using a M. tuberculosis strain with a severely attenuated metabolism. Novel biomimetic nanoparticles developed in collaboration with two universities, UWC and SDSU, were then tested against these persisters in an in vivo infection model to assess its efficacy.
Currently, I am registered as a PhD candidate with UCL, undertaking my research project at the Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) in South Africa. The aim of my project is to unmask TB disease immune dysregulation in well-controlled HIV, employing the tuberculin skin test (TST) as a mycobacterial antigen challenge model.
