Biography:

I am a clinical microbiologist and public health researcher with expertise in antimicrobial resistance, Mycobacteriology, immunization, and the epidemiology of infectious diseases. My research interests encompass the surveillance of emerging and re-emerging pathogens, antibiotic stewardship, and host-microbiome interactions. I have contributed to impactful studies, including analyses of tuberculosis gene expression patterns, evaluations of diagnostic techniques for acid-fast bacilli, and case reports on co-infections like leprosy and HIV in Nigeria.

I have served as a consultant to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and held technical advisory roles on antimicrobial resistance and routine immunization. My collaborative research experience includes international projects such as studying Noma disease with King’s College London, neonatal antibiotic resistance with the University of Oxford, and advanced HIV disease clinical trials with the Population Health Research Institute, Canada. Currently, I lead a nationwide Gavi-funded Zero Dose Learning Hub project in Nigeria, exploring barriers and facilitators to immunization. As Training Coordinator for the Faculty of Laboratory Medicine at the West African College of Physicians, I work to foster regional networks for research and capacity building. I am passionate about advancing interdisciplinary research and mentoring young researchers, and I look forward to contributing to VALIDATE’s mission to address infectious diseases in low- and middle-income countries.
