World Days 2022

Throughout the year, VALIDATE marks world campaign days (and weeks) relevant to the important work we do research vaccines for Tuberculosis, Leishmaniasis, Melioidosis, and Leprosy.

Some highlights to pop in your calendar for 2022:

  • World NTD Day and World Leprosy Day - 30 January: World Leprosy Day is celebrated on the last Sunday of January. It is an opportunity to celebrate people who have experienced leprosy, raise awareness of the disease, and call for an end to leprosy-related stigma and discrimination.
  • International Day of Women and Girls in Science - 11 February: The Day focuses on the reality that science and gender equality are both vital for the achievement of internationally agreed development goals.
  • World TB Day - 24 March: World TB Day is designed to build public awareness that tuberculosis today remains an epidemic in much of the world, causing the deaths of nearly one-and-a-half million people each year, mostly in LMICs.
  • World Health Day - 7 April 2022: It is celebrated annually and each year draws attention to a specific health topic of concern to people all over the world. The date marks the anniversary of the founding of WHO in 1948.
  • World Immunization Week - 24 to 30 April: World Immunization Week, celebrated in the last week of April, aims to highlight the collective action needed and to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease.

If you think VALIDATE should be in any global or local theme days or campaigns, get in touch and let us know the details - validate@ndm.ox.ac.uk.
