This conference aims to create a program that attracts both, scientists from the melioidosis and the glanders community. Burkholderia pseudomallei, causative agent of melioidosis and its clonal descendant Burkholderia mallei, causing glanders, coexist in many parts of the world, where diagnostic capabilities are limited. Distinguishing these infections in humans and animals might be difficult. The under-recognition of melioidosis and glanders in endemic areas, imported cases through global travel and a recent multistate outbreak of melioidosis in the United States through an imported product highlight the need for global surveillance programs.
We welcome contributions on melioidosis and glanders in humans and animals. The scope includes: Clinical aspects, Diagnostics, Antibiotic Treatment and Resistance, Epidemiology, Genomics, Pathogenesis, Immune Response, Environmental Aspects (B. pseudomallei), Vaccine and Prevention.
We particularly encourage young investigators to join the meeting and present their work.
Abstract Deadline: 31 March 2022
