On 30 November 2021, Dr Yumi Maeda from the Leprosy Research Center National at the Tokyo Institute of Infectious Diseases, spoke to VALIDATE members and other researchers from around the world in VALIDATE's fInal seminar of 2021. Dr Maeda discussed and how her team has constructed a recombinant BCG that secretes Major Membrane Protein-II of M. leprae, and found that it was effective in inhibiting the growth of M. leprae in mice footpads.
