Weekly round-up #75

It's been a busy week for us at VALIDATE. We are delighted to announce that registration for the 3rd VALIDATE Annual Meeting, which will take place on the 1-2 October 2019, is now open. This year VALIDATE and the British Society for Immunology (BSI) are co-hosting an open conference entitled ‘Vaccine Development for Neglected Intracellular Pathogens’ that will run directly after the 3rd Annual Meeting, on the 2-3 October 2019 at the same venue, for which you can also now register.

Prior to the Annual Meeting (on 30th September), again at the same venue, we'll be hosting our 2nd Early Career Researchers' Workshop for VALIDATE Associate and student Affiliate members. For more information about all three of these consecutive events, including the draft programmes, venue details, and how to register, click here. We look forward to see many of you at each of these events!

Highlights on Twitter this week: read an interesting article on how cutaneous leishmaniasis is emerging among refugees in Lebanon; view an interesting graphic illustrating the changes in disease research popularity across the last 70 years using the number of papers published; take a look at a graphical representation of the various forms of drug-resistant TB; read about LSTM and partners' new project using drones to combat TB in some of Nepal's most rural areas; watch a video highlighting VALIDATE affiliate Enoka Corea's research into melioidosis; as well as a graph showing that the number of TB-related deaths among people living with HIV is falling. All this and more @NetworkVALIDATE.

We are taking a break next week due to Management Team annual leave, so we will return in 2 weeks' time with our next weekly round-up. Do, of course, contact VALIDATE@ndm.ox.ac.uk with any queries in the meantime.
