We are looking for a Communications and Events Coordinator to take the lead on communications and events for VALIDATE, an international research network based at the University of Oxford that aims to advance vaccine development for neglected diseases. This is an exciting opportunity in a new role that you can make your own, and that will play a crucial part in the success of VALIDATE.

VALIDATE (‘VAccine deveLopment for complex Intracellular neglecteD pAThogEns’) aims to bring together human and veterinary researchers around the world to accelerate vaccine development for four neglected diseases linked to poverty. We are looking for a graduate with demonstrable experience in communications (internal and external), and event planning and management. Working closely with the VALIDATE Network Manager, you will lead on communications and events coordination for the Network, aiming to raise VALIDATE’s profile and ‘sell’ the Network to encourage further funding. This includes running a website and social media, identifying publicity opportunities, keeping our members up-to-date and engaged, increasing scientific collaborations between our members, and organising an Annual Meeting as well as workshops and scientific seminars. You will also lead on outreach projects to capacity-build in our member low- and middle-income countries, and assist the Network Manager with industry partner engagement.

You have a degree in communications or similar. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage your own time and prioritise your workload to meet goals successfully. You must be able to write clear, concise copy and articles, with excellent attention to detail. You should have a proven ability to work to high standards consistently, and be able to work independently but also be a strong team player. You will be a quick learner who enjoys taking on new challenges and who can hit the ground running. We are looking for a creative person who can bring great ideas to improve VALIDATE, who is proactive and autonomous, and who will become a fantastic addition to the VALIDATE team.
