Weekly round-up #106

Yesterday we celebrated International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which highlights how science is a career choice for all. You can read about some of the excellent research being carried out by some of our fantastic VALIDATE researchers, who also happen to be women, in our blog post. A big thank you to Prof Samantha Sampson, Dr Ann Rawkins, Asst Prof Tufária Mussá, Dr Suwarti and Dr Mirvat Surakhy for letting us interview them to mark the day.

You now have less than two weeks to apply for our VALIDATE Training Grants, so get your application submitted soon! This call is for our Associate members (post-doctoral researchers) to take advantage of training opportunities that will benefit their continued professional development, such as attendance at courses or workshops, laboratory exchanges, and work shadowing. The deadline to apply is 24 Feb 2020, so click here to find out more and apply.

We would also like to welcome our newest members who joined VALIDATE this week: Wim Adriaensen (Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp, Belgium) who joined as an Associate member, and Jacent Nassuuna (MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Uganda Research Unit, Uganda) who joined as an Affiliate member.
