Collaboration Workshop

Weekly Round-up #139

It's Collaboration Week! As well as the usual updates, we celebrate a successful VALIDATE Collaboration Workshop.

VALIDATE Collaboration Workshop:

As part of our Collaboration Week, we held a virtual Collaboration Workshop for VALIDATE members on 13th October. Prof Susanna Dunachie gave an interesting talk about her experiences in building research collaborations, following which the 33 delegates split into virtual break-out rooms to discuss possible collaboration opportunities.

We will soon be sharing a Workshop report so we would love to hear feedback from members who attended the event. Do also get in touch if you have any thoughts or ideas about future workshops – validate@ndm.ox.ac.uk.

Funding

  •  - The programme aims to help promising researchers attend a training course or workshop of their choice, that they would otherwise have not been able to attend due to a lack of funds - deadline 26 October 2020

Our funding page is continually updated with any calls we think are relevant to our members.

Training Opportunities and Events:

More opportunities are to be found on our Training and Events pages.

Highlights on Twitter this week

Write that PhD shared a tool that helps you write a scientific journal article and Oxford Immunotec raised concerns about the drop in attendance at TB centres. We launched Collaboration Week by celebrating some of VALIDATE's collaborative successes including a new consortium that gained funding for the first melioidosis vaccine human clinical trial and our equipment exchange programme. The BSI have opened for submissions for presentations at their virtual conference, while the Crick Institute were promoting their PhD Programme. As part of Hispanic Heritage month in the United States, people were celebrating the work of scientist Jacinto Convit García, who worked on leprosy and leishmaniasis.

All this and more @NetworkVALIDATE.
