VALIDATE Receives Gates Foundation Funding

This week we announced that the VALIDATE Network procured funding from  The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  The $1.5M funding will allow us to continue our activities focusing on Tuberculosis through to 2023. Find out more on the news announcement or download the full press release.

Funding:

  • ERC Advanced Grants - To support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they are already established research leaders with a recognised track record of research achievements. Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition – 31 August 2021
  • MRC Senior Non-Clinical Fellowship (SNCF) - Up to 5 years' support for PIs in a challenging research programme – 15 September 2021
  • ​​​​​​Global Learning Scholarship Program - Providing opportunities for scientists and researchers from LMICs to access the latest ideas, science, technology and partnerships to make a positive impact on fighting global disease – 21 September 2021
  • Global Learning Scholarship Program - Providing opportunities for scientists and researchers from LMICs to access the latest ideas, science, technology and partnerships to make a positive impact on fighting global disease – 21 September 2021
  • BBSRC Standard Research Grant - Projects can range in size up to £2 million and last up to five years – 21 September 2021

Highlights on Twitter this week:

VALIDATE Network Director Sam Sampson spoke at Stellenbosch’s “The Woman Behind the Science” talk series and the ALAM 2021 event promoted our involvement. We announced our obtaining $1.5 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and we received congratulations from Bactivac, Prof Katie Ewer, member Nkemngo Francis Nongley, the Division of Molecular Biology and Human Genetics and it was reported by Health Europa. Plos had some advice for organizing a bioinformatics training course in LMICs, Write that PhD shared a chapter from Quantitative Research Methods, and Nature Careers share an article about Science Diplomacy.
