The Cambridge-Africa ALBORADA Research Fund, established in 2012 with support from The ALBORADA Trust, promotes research collaborations between researchers from the University of Cambridge (and affiliated institutions) and sub-Saharan African institutions across all disciplines. The Fund has awarded 300 grants to date, facilitating partnerships with colleagues from 34 African countries and enabling researchers to apply for additional funding based on preliminary results.
The grants, ranging from £1,000 to £20,000, cover research costs travel between Cambridge and Africa (subject to COVID restrictions), and research training activities in Africa. The Fund does not cover overheads, salaries, administration costs, bench fees, or conference attendance. Interested applicants can register their interest via email and should review the Terms & Conditions and eligibility criteria before applying.
