The primary objective of the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) is to expedite the clinical advancement of novel or enhanced health technologies aimed at identifying, treating, and preventing infectious diseases associated with poverty and neglect. These diseases encompass both established and resurging conditions, with a specific focus on those impacting sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).
The third work programme of the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking aligns with the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda, contributing to the EU global health strategy, EU-AU summit deliverables, and the AU-EU innovation agenda. This year's program focuses on two calls for proposals: Research and Innovation Actions (RIA) and Coordination and Support Actions (CSA). Emphasising interventions such as pharmaceuticals, vaccines, vector control, and digital health tools, the program also prioritizes training activities, supporting African scientists with a focus on gender and regional balance. The work programme extends the range of topics addressed in 2022 and 2023, while also including provisions for ongoing action monitoring and funds mobilization during public health emergencies.
