ESCMID offers grants of up to EUR 20,000 for research projects, with the possibility of using the funding for the entire project or a portion of it.
Two highly-rated projects may receive up to EUR 50,000 each for further development. The ESCMID Förderverein supports additional grants in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and emerging infections, with four individual grants awarded annually. Projects must align with the yearly theme and focus on bacterial infections for even years and fungal/viral/parasitic infections for odd years. Research projects can include laboratory investigations, clinical studies, or animal studies, lasting up to 24 months. Applications not meeting the criteria will be directly rejected, while projects related to fungal/viral/parasitic infections will be reconsidered next year. The selection process involves peer review and ranking based on research proposals.
