Postdoctoral Researcher (Burkholderia)

A postdoctoral position is immediately available to investigate correlates of antigen-induced immunity against Burkholderia pseudomallei. The successful candidate will work in a highly collaborative environment to optimize melioidosis subunit vaccine formulations for advancement into Phase I clinical trials. In addition, they will participate in the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications, present data at national and international meetings, and assist in the training of students.
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Microbiology, Immunology or a related field. A strong understanding of vaccine immunology is required. Experience working with Gram negative pathogens and the handling of small animals is desirable. Effective communication skills and a commitment to collaborative research are also sought. A recent graduate is preferred.
Reno is located at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountainous area and offers outstanding four seasons living one hour from scenic Lake Tahoe. Along with the amenities of a university town, it has excellent arts and entertainment and exceptional access to outdoor recreational activities. We are also located only four hours from San Francisco and the beautiful Northern California wine country.
