Public Health England (PHE) is an executive agency of the Department of Health and Social Care providing; strategic leadership, research, advice and support for Government, local authorities and the NHS in protecting and improving the nation’s health.
We are looking for a Principal Scientist to oversee the national surveillance of tuberculosis, including the further development of a web-based surveillance system, analyses of tuberculosis surveillance data, provision of information and scientific advice and teaching. The post holder will also lead on specific areas and research projects within the TB Section and represent the TB section at national and international meetings.
The applicant must be a graduate with postgraduate qualifications and a significant amount of relevant epidemiological/ public health experience. Good communication skills and organisational abilities are required, as well as the ability to manage staff and to work as part of a team, along with a high level of individual responsibility and considerable initiative. S/he should have demonstrated the ability to prepare papers and reports for publication. Experience in computer-based database development and management will be useful.
