Employer: University of York, UK
Salary: £32,236 to £39,609
Contract Type: Until December 2020
The University of York are seeking two experienced immunologists, based in the Centre for Immunology and Infection, Department of Biology and Hull York Medical School, to work on an exciting program of research on the immunology and immunopathology of visceral leishmaniasis and post kala azar dermal leishmaniasis.
Funded by the Wellcome Trust until December 2020, the posts provide an exciting opportunity to explore the role of myeloid cells, T cells and inflammation as regulators of onward transmission of Leishmania parasites to their sand fly vector and to explore new approaches to the development of an animal model for PKDL.
Key responsibilities will be to conduct research using appropriate in vitro models, animal models or human tissues that increases our understanding of myeloid cell function in leishmaniasis. You will use state of the art techniques in cellular immunology as well as highly multiplexed immunohistology, transcriptomics and image analysis to understand local immune responses.
You will have a PhD in Immunology or related discipline, with an excellent record of publication. You will have experience in appropriate techniques in immunology/molecular pathology and be able to demonstrate strong working knowledge of myeloid or T cell biology/inflammation. Experience in animal models of infection would be advantageous but is not required. Candidates will be required to hold a Home Office personal licence.
