UUKi-BEIS Delivering Official Development Assistance - Regional Meetings, 2020

Universities UK International (UUKi) and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy present: Delivering Official Development Assistance in 2020, regional information events on compliance, policy and practice for the Newton Fund and Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF).
UUKi is inviting expressions of interest to attend Official Development Assistance (ODA) regional information workshops, with particular focus on the Newton Fund and the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF). The workshops will take place across the UK in April and May 2020 and will be funded by the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
The day will comprise two separate workshops, with sessions delivered by BEIS officials and fund delivery partners.
The morning session is aimed at early career researchers and academics with little prior exposure to ODA funding opportunities, as well as research services staff who are new in post. The morning session will cover the following:
A basic introduction to the Funds
Introduction to ODA compliance in a research context
What is meant by impact in the context of ODA specifically?
The afternoon session is aimed at academics in receipt of Newton/GCRF grants and research services staff with responsibility for supporting ODA research applications within their institution. This session will provide the opportunity to discuss current key policies and requirements associated with ODA research grants, including:
Demonstrating ODA compliance post-award
Safeguarding principles and research ethics
Equality, diversity and inclusion
