Our Clinical PhD Programme provides support for biomedical and veterinary clinicians who wish to conduct research in Low and Middle Income Countries (L-MIC).
During year one of a 4 year fellowship, you will:
- complete a Masters of Clinical Research (MRes) with a choice of externally quality assured mini-projects & Diploma Course in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene (DTM&H).
- Work with supervisors who are leaders in their field in shaping your PhD project idea
- Receive detailed professional assistance in planning, budgeting & management for the duration of your fellowship
During years 2-4 you will work in a L-MIC completing your research project, before returning to the UK to complete and defend your PhD thesis.
We also offer a 3 year fellowship, designed to provide flexibility, for example for those with a pre-defined research project, or who do not wish to spend extended periods of time overseas.
Funding
A Clinical PhD Programme fellowship provides funding to support the following:
- A clinical salary
- Fees for first year training & PhD registration in subsequent years
- Research consumables and travel
- Overseas allowances for the period a Fellow is based overseas.
