Collaborative Awards promote the development of new ideas and speed the pace of discovery. We fund teams of researchers, consisting of independent research groups, to work together on the most important scientific problems that can only be solved through collaborative efforts. This often involves collaborations across organisations, national borders, interdisciplinary science and partners outside of academia.
Career stage: Tooltip , Leading a research programme
Where your host organisation is based: UK,Republic of Ireland,Tooltip , Low- or middle-income countries (apart from mainland China)
Type of researcher: Tooltip, Basic, Clinical, Public health
Level of funding: Up to £4 million
Duration of funding: Usually up to 5 years, but can be up to 7 years in exceptional circumstances
Who can apply: You can apply for a Collaborative Award if you want to work as part of a team to answer an ambitious biomedical research question within our remit that requires a collaborative approach.
Each applicant in your team must:

be essential to the proposed collaborative research

bring expertise that does not overlap with anyone else in the team
-
have proven research experience in their field and in collaborative research.
Each applicant should also be leading their own research group.
